How to Use Google AdWords Without Breaking the Bank

Small businesses have been using Google AdWords for many years to boost the effectiveness and revenue of their brand. However, the pay per click model can get quite cumbersome on a small business’ budgets if they only have a small amount of money to put toward marketing each month. But fear not! There are many ways to use Google AdWords on a budget, while still getting the results you want. Here are 5 of the best ways to use the amazing platform without breaking your company’s bank.

  1. Only Use Google Search

Until you have a larger budget to throw at Google AdWords, consider simply using the feature which allows you to put your advertisements on the Google Search option. This is much cheaper than using all of the services Google AdWords provides, and is one of the best options for gaining qualified leads to your brand’s website.

  1. Understand Geotargeting

If you want to go the traditional PPC click route with Google AdWords, you need to use geotargeting so that your ads are only showing up in certain locations. If you fail to do this, you will be paying for clicks from people in Timbuktu and therefore very unlikely to use your service. Thankfully, Google AdWords’ geotargeting feature allows you to target locations by zip code, city, or by certain distances away from a specified point on a map.

  1. Schedule for Specific Times

This practice, known as day parting, is designed to keep your ads from showing up at less than stellar times of the day. If you want the most out of your money spent, you need your ads to show up at peak times, when everyone’s on the interwebs. For most businesses, you will have no reason to show up in search results anytime other than 9AM – 9PM, which also happens to be when conversion rates tend to be the highest.

  1. Target Users with Certain Devices

It’s important to remember that the way you market to a mobile audience will be drastically different than how you market to users using tablets and desktops. Understanding how to best use Google AdWords to separate these two audiences is absolutely essential to using the platform effectively.

  1. Keywords are King

Finally, you must optimize your keywords as much as possible when using Google AdWords. Target your branded keywords, and other keywords that Google AdWords is showing as relevant to the industry you are doing business in. Using long tail keywords is also highly recommended.

You don’t have to break the bank to get some results from AdWords! Use the platform efficiently and wisely and you can see great results with minimal dollars spent. And as always, we are here to help answer any questions you may have!
